Disconnect Vs Emotional Connect

Disconnect Vs Emotional Connect

After staunch criticism for not ‘getting a connection’ with his audience Congress Vice President Mr Rahul Gandhi tried to connect emotionally with people in his election rallies by narrating the emotionally charged stories of his immediate  family. By describing the pre and post scenarios of tragic and terrible accidents which led to end of lives of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul has indeed succeeded to maneuver some sympathy of his voters. But the big question is, whether this strategy will bring a wave in favour of the Congress and which could also give UPA to its third term.
Some critics, who have minutely observed Rahul through his election speeches, have some reservations about new strategy employed by Mr Gandhi. ‘It may boomerang and Congress vice president may draw more flak for using family legacy to attract youth voters, feels the critics.
While targeting main opponent BJP Rahul also charged party directly to instigate riots to spread hatred and divide minority community from major communities. In Bhopal, to support the allegations Congress vice president also quoted unidentified intelligence bureau officer who had said to briefed him about the aftermath of UP’s communal clashes. Pakistan’s ISI is approaching some Muslim youths who have lost their dear one in recent riots of Muzaffernagar, he told the audience present in rally.
As was anticipated by election analysts, opposition took no time to slam Rahul’s both the statements. The BJP firstly took the charge of attacks and questioned the government that under what capacity Rahul was getting feedback from IB officer that too when he has not taken the oath of secrecy. And if he has such sensitive information then why sharing with public from election platform? And why he has not passed such secret information to Home Ministry to look into the matter? Not only the BJP, left parties also slam Rahul for his political immaturity and for sharing classified information with the common public. Some Muslim clerics also criticized Rahul for linking ‘clash hit’ Muslim youths to ISI. Spokesperson of BJP Prakash Javedkar also targeted Rahul after statements of various Muslim religious leaders got space in print and electronic media .
Some analysis of election speeches of Rahul Gandhi shows that the pattern of his speeches are same since the time he started as star campaigner for his party. He starts with UPA’s vote catcher schemes then touches some non burning current issues and in last some stories of his family in which some times his grandmother gets mention but family of his uncle Sanjay Gandhi, who also lived with Indira Gandhi never gets a place in his speeches.
Will such references of scarifie and martyrdom work? In an era when majority of voters are in the age group of 28 to 45 years, this is a very pertinent question. It is important to note that currently the median age of Indian population is 28 years. When the education has reached to every nook corner of country and when the youths understand the gains associate with power gallery, will telling emotional stories of family give votes to Congress? And is also a future lead for psephologists who will analyze the coming election results.
‘Initially this strategy, to get attentions of masses was right to some extent but this can not work always as he is leading the party from front for long time and now as a second most important leader after his mother Sonia Gandhi’ said a Congress source who does not wish to be identified. Repetition of script will remind the accusation of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for Rahul that he is a ‘Sahazada’, who has got position in Congress because of scion and not because of mettle and acumen.

The movement of Lokpal harangued by Gandhi leader Anna and his team also speared a mass appeal against the politicians who where seen as a corrupt leader and who seems to have plundered the coffer of nation to buy comforts of life not only for self but also for all coming generations. Despite his public posture of honesty and straight forward man who is perturbed by dirty politics being played to reach power pyramid, Rahul Gandhi too belongs to that chunk of politician who had stalled every attempt which favours the movement of Anna. On the other hand honesty tag associated with Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is the only reason for putting AAP as one of  main player of Delhi’s assembly fray.

Congress goes critical to pre poll surveys

Hound and scared by pre- poll surveys showing adverse tally for coming assembly and lok sabha poll, the Congress yesterday questioned methodology of surveys being done by various organizations for media houses.
It seems that methodologies employed by survey organizations are faulty, otherwise how surveys done on the same population projects different and contradictory findings alleged the Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dixit in a press conference in New Delhi.
However sources says that it is adversity of the results against party which compelled party to express its animosity against the organizations engaged in surveys for media houses. The Congress does not want to show its bitterness against some big media houses so it targeted survey organization said a source who does not wish to be identified.
But the important question is whether these surveys are showing  correct public moods
and their inclinations towards parties or showing only manipulated results. Surely this can only be verified once the results of assembly elections will come out in December.

MODI Charisma

Will Modi charisma prove to political game changer in favour of BJP in 2014

Will charisma of the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi change the fortunes of saffron party at national level also? In the run up of 2014 general election of parliament this has become a million dollars question. With the release of every new survey telecasted on tv channels hope of the BJP getting back to power of corridors gets a new booster dose. Which also gives confidence to key strategy makers of party and its mother organization RSS who made background to anointment of Modi despite loosing support of more than 17 years old allies JD(u).
After humiliating lose of 2009 general election think tank of RSS started to search another hardliner to replace Adwani. Three successive wins of Gujarat by Narendra Modi gave RSS an alternative to stalwart Adawani who can show the much desired way to throne of Delhi says a source of BJP while explaining the situations which compelled the BJP and RSS to dump party’s oldest leader on the sideline and bring Modi on front.
However political analysts who are minutely watching the changing situation of polity raise questions over the big clams of NaMo supporters. Especially when Congress is highlighting stigma of 2002 Gujarat riots holding secular cards near its chest to hound BJP and prime ministerial candidate and to woo post poll allies. ‘The Congerss has done mastery in giving out of proportion blow to any controversy to change the situation in its favour in game of power politics.’ In the past it had used this strategy and it is almost sure that this time it will also be used to change the situation, says a Congress source who does not wish to be named.
Although recent change tone of sulking patriarch of BJP is indicating some short of compromise and understanding between warring groups of BJP. It has come as a solace to staunch supporters of NaMo and to those who have gambled on Gujarat CM despite anticipation of Advani wrath.
The Congress is using all its tricks to flare fear psychosis among minorities to garner the support and votes of Muslims. ‘But this strategy has also some hidden draw backs which can polarize the majority groups in favours of the BJP’ says another analyst. In the past after the Mandir movemet in 90’s, this was a proven strategy which had pushed BJP from 2 to over 180 MPs in the Lok sabha.
‘To repeat the old days, the BJP is busy in making such strategy which will create many Muzaffer Nager in UP and Bihar in coming days’ says Pradeep Jain Minister of State (Rural Development). In fact many Congress senior ministers, now a day are saying that this election is going to fight between RSS and Congress. Narendra Modi is a choice of RSS which in its well chalked strategy come forth with Hindu Poster boy Modi to barge in power circle of Delhi. However RSS has another alternate to Modi strategy. If BJP cross the magical tally of 200 seats then only Modi will be coronet otherwise Adwani camp will put forward to win support of allies says a BJP source.

How far Congress will able to hold Modi’s magic will be an interesting thing to watch but one thing is sure that NaMo is going to be a tough obstacle for the UPA 3 dream.

Preface

Have started writing a new blog with the name of ANAND BHAWAN. I am not a supporter of Gandhi Nehru family but (nevertheless I also do not want to forget their contributions in the freedom struggle)want to associate my blog to my city, my birth city ALLAHABAD. The moment you take the name of Anand Bhawan the images of city automatic flashes out in mind hence has slected this name. Anand Bhawan the palatial building of city has always been associated with the politics of Nation. Many strategies were prepared  in Anand Bhawan during preindependence period under the stewardship of Mahatma Gandhi. The city was not only leading the national freedom struggle but also in the field of literature. A galaxy of great literary persons had spent their whole life on the bank of Ganga and Yamuna, and many more are still doing good works in literature from Allahabad. More importantly Anand Bhawan is one of few places of Allahabad to which identity of the city is known. As Allahabadi and as professional journalist I expect few words of criticism from you on my blogs, because of my belief in philosophy of Kabir, 'Nindak niyre rakhiye.'
